It's a Book!
Last Friday Kathy received a FedEx package at home. She delivered it to me in the afternoon in my BibTheo class. It was what we expected -- my book, Telling God's Story: Narrative Preaching for Christian Formation (IVP Academic, 2007)!! IVP has done a marvelous job producing the book. Copies are available at IVP's customer service number: 1-800-843-9487. It is posted for pre-order here. If you click on the above image, Eric Lee tells me that you will see it a bit bigger. Needless to say, I'm excited and very, very thankful. I hope that you can get and read the book. While a book on preaching, it hopefully is much more in its analysis of North American Christianity and recommendations for a non-accomodated congregational/parish life! Tell me what you think!! Congratulations! I'll be getting it as I'm going back on staff in the near future. It's always nice to see fellow Nazarenes out in the general evangelical market, and IVP is one of my favorite publishers. Posted by: ShawnaRenee at April 24, 2007 2:57 PM yeah!!! Posted by: james rosenberg at April 25, 2007 8:33 AM Is this the same thing you were working when I was in class with you (said the former student, tongue in check). I'm glad is available as I am taking biblical hermeneutics this summer. We'll what Dr. Hahn thinks :). Peace to you. Scott Posted by: Scott Savage at April 25, 2007 9:21 AM I've had it on pre-order since March 1st. I'm looking forward to it! Posted by: Thom Stark at April 25, 2007 6:54 PM Christ is Risen! I hope it sells a million copies... Posted by: David at April 27, 2007 11:16 PM Looks REALLY good ... hope it arrives on our Malaysian shores soon. Posted by: Sivin Kit at April 28, 2007 7:06 AM I am reading your book. It is very provocative and timely ... actually well overdue. I was enthralled by your assessment of North American Christianity. I think your diagnosis of how/why we arrived where we are is more than informational. It was, in fact, instructional. Your emphasis on community and the Biblical narrative's of assumptions of community are refreshing. I will post more after I finish the book. Thanks in advance! Posted by: Ken Pell at June 21, 2007 9:17 AM Thank you for this book! The second chapter is saying what I have suspected for some years now. It is utterly astounding to see how the American church has eclipsed the biblical narrative: the Puritans' and Revivalists' rule of prayer has become our rule of faith in the 21st Century.
